MURRAY Bushrangers, Thomas Clurey of Katamatite FC and Jake Pallprat of Benalla FC were selected to represent Vic Country in the National Football Championships earlier this month.

The pair played for the Under 16’s team at the competition held in West Sydney after two days training with the side at the AIS in Canberra.

Coached by ex-Kyabram and Melbourne FC legend Gary Lyon, the Bushrangers, although loosing two of their three games, managed to beat South Australia who were otherwise undefeated as winners of the competition.

Following the competition, the boys also enjoyed a tour of the SCG with AFL star Adam Goodes, who they said aside from being very funny was encouraging and gave them some good advice.

“He talked about when he was young and told us just to keep going.” Thomas said, who is now more than ever determined to play AFL.

“Getting selected makes you want to try better and train harder. I was so excited.”
