ALDI will open its new store in Mooroopna in late November if construction at the development’s building site continues to run on schedule.

Yet to appoint a store manager, ALDI are now waiting for handover of the McLennan Street property from the vendor and are hoping to begin its fit-outs later this month.

An ALDI Spokesperson said the new store will be very similar to the Shepparton store opened in November 2005, only slightly larger, and will employ between 15 and 20 full-time and part-time permanent staff.

With Woolworth’s also opening a Safeway store immediately next-door to the development earlier this month, the discount supermarket said they will welcome their neighbouring competition.

“We believe it ensures local residents are provided with competitive grocery prices,’ ALDI’s spokesperson said.

ALDI could not confirm the estimated cost of the development but said it would also include an on-site car park at the rear of the facility with around 80 car spaces available.

“The product range will be exactly the same; offering our high quality exclusive brands at permanently low prices.  As well as our core range of over 1,000 exclusive branded items, we have a range of Special Buys on offer every Thursday consisting of anything from electrical to kitchenware products,’ ALDI’s spokesperson said.

“We are also conscious of sourcing local products wherever possible; currently 100% of fresh meat, 97% of dairy and 97% of the fruit and vegetables that we sell are Australian.”
