MUFFIN BREAK officially opened its doors in Shepparton on Monday with a ribbon cutting by City of Greater Shepparton Mayor, Cr Geoff Dobson at Riverside Plaza.

After a four year break, the store’s new owner and manger Michael Bye, 28, said he was excited to make a return to the baking industry after completing his baking and pastry-making apprenticeship in Nathalia eight years ago.

“I’m really looking forward to it all. We were training and setting up on Saturday and everyone was trying to get in here,” he said.

“We’ve got so many great things on our menu. Everything is baked fresh here on the premises daily. We think we’ll get a really good response.”

Employing 16 casual staff, the Shepparton branch joins 200 other Muffin Break stores across Australia and New Zealand offering muffins, cakes, pastries, wraps and salads and a range of hot and cold drinks.

Cr Geoff Dobson said the opening demonstrated confidence from large franchises in the local economy and in Riverside Plaza.

“Muffin Break joins a long list of other national and international companies with a belief in economic growth in our area,” he said.

“We congratulate Michael and would like to wish Muffin Break all the best. We’re sure they will have backing from the local community.”

The store will be open 6.30am – 5.30pm Sunday to Wednesday, 6.30am – 9pm Thursday and 6.30am – 7pm Friday.
