McGUIRE COLLEGE student, Kimberly Wilson experienced her first live ALF game earlier this month after she won a state-wide competition for tickets to the Essendon vs Melbourne game in the Leighton Contractors corporate box.
After writing about why she should receive the prize, Kimberly, 17, was chosen as winner of the competition open to Victorian Beacon Foundation school students who had not been to an AFL match before.
Accompanied by her grandfather, Kimberly was happy to take some time out from Year 12 for the experience, seeing Essendon defeat Melbourne by two points.
“It was amazing,” Kimberly said.
“The whole view, the food, the crowd, everything was so good. I really want to go again.”
Beacon is a not-for-profit organisation working in 118 schools across Australia to help inspire and motivate students towards a positive pathway.
“This is achieved through practical, hands on programs designed to provide career and employment opportunities for students once they leave the school gate, and relies heavily on support from local business, industry and the wider community surrounding the school,” Beacon National Communications Manager, Jo Breen said.
