Managing excess water

AFTER the recent deluge of rain our region has received, Greater Shepparton City Council announced a review of existing flood management plans within the municipality.
The review involves making sure that contingency plans are in place to minimise damage to infrastructure including roads, during periods of inundation.
Greater Shepparton City Council Superintendent of Works, Bill Bailey said, “It’s been over 12 years since we’ve had any cause to utilise our existing flood plans, so it’s really time to refresh and make sure contingency plans are in place.”
While water levels seem to have stabilised, the regions water authorities will continue to monitor river heights.
